Women - we are strong individuals, but imagine how strong we could be together.

One of the most beautiful experiences as an Au Pair was connecting with other women. It is so easy since we all do the same job and are in similar situations. We meet, listen to each other, share stories and experience fun times together. Before being an Au pair I heard a lot of women say that it is really hard to find "girl friends". Honestly, I feel the same way. Once you get older it is harder to find new girl friends. I personally think that many reasons are responsible for that. First of all, I see a lot of competition and competitive thinking patterns between women. It might be the same with men, but probably in different ways. I'm not an expert on this and just mention my observations. Other than that, I think attention plays a huge role too. For many women it's all about who gets the most attention in several areas. It is hard for women to trust each other, since many of us love to gossip and struggle with insecurities. On top of that, I think some of us are just scared to make new friends. New friends lead to change, it means letting another person in your life. It means trusting somebody and I know that this is something that is difficult for many of us, especially if we have been hurt in the past, or disappointed by someone else before. We as women tend to think a lot. I mean - A LOT. 

Sometimes we should just take things easy, without thinking too much about it. We should take care of ourselves, but remind ourselves that we are not supposed to keep a distance from new people, or new situations, just because we are scared of changes. 

Through my experience I met a lot of women, either through the Au Pair program, through church or through dance. I'm glad I did, because I met some amazing women, with the most interesting stories. Some of them are the most kind-hearted women I have ever met. 

I really think it is unfortunate that we make it so hard for each other to become friends.

Imagine how powerful we could be if we would get together, think about what we could move, change, what amazing things we could accomplish if we would come together. Let's make this happen. Let's support each other, let's work together, let's make a change.
